The skipper of India cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be the brand ambassador of the first ever Kolkata Fashion Week commencing on April 2, 2009. Talking to the media, the managing director of Mindscape Group of companies, Yudhajit Dutta said that the first ever 4-day fashion week of the city will have MS Dhoni as the brand ambassador. Dutta said that Dhoni will be the face of the annual event for four years. He also informed that the Indian captain has already shot several promos for the show.

 

However, the first edition of the Kolkata fashion event will not be able to see Dhoni as he will be in New Zealand with the Indian cricket team. While justifying the reason for picking the Indian skipper, Dutta said that the organisers wanted a face which caters to the youth and can grab the spot light immediately.

 

The Kolkata Fashion Week organised by Mindscape Group of companies will be participated by thirty five top Indian models and 15 designers. With the theme 'Return to Roots', the Kolkata Fashion Week will promote the rich heritage of weavers and weaves in Bengal. The models at the fashion event will walk the ramps to display the designs of noted designers like Bibi Russell, Ritu Kumar, Narendra Kumar, Mona Pali, Zubair Kirmani, Manoviraj Khosla and others.
