The captain of Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni reportedly threatened to quit captaincy in protest against non-inclusion of RP Singh in the Indian one-day squad for the next 2 one-dayers of the Hero Honda cup. According to reports, the decision of dropping RP Singh was taken on 19 November selection committee meeting, headed by former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth.
Media further claimed that the president of BCCI, Shashank Manohar had to interfere to sort out the matter. The newly formed selection committee had picked up Irfan Pathan in place of RP Singh who gave average performances in the matches played so far. The dropping of medium pacer, RP Singh forced Dhoni to make a decision of resigning from the captaincy.
Meanwhile, the BCCI denied the authenticity of such reports by saying that there exists no differences between the selectors and Dhoni. BCCI secretary N Srinivisan dismissed the news of Dhoni's decision of resignation by claiming it was just a rumor. The Indian players are currently in Bangalore to play the fourth match against England.
