The captain of Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has received yet another threatening letter which warned to blow up his Ranchi house unless he pays a gangster Rs.5 million. Earlier, Dhoni was also sent a similar threatening, following which the Jharkhand government decided to provide the highest 'Z category' security to his family.
Informing about the threat, sources close to cricketer's family said that Dhoni have been asked not to inform the police about the letter. The letter also says that the gangster had killed a contractor who refused to pay the demanded money. According to police sources, Dhoni’s family received an extortion letter on Monday (December 29). The cops informed that the letter was sent by gangster Taslim, who claims to be a close associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
The letter which demanded Indian skipper to pay a huge sum was handed over to police on Tuesday (December 30). Soon after that, the state authorities beefed up Dhoni's security. The cricket is now guarded by 45 security personnel. Earlier, the Indian captain was provided 'Y category' security service.
Talking about the repeated threatening incidents, Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Sampant Meena informed that Taslim who has a criminal background is not present at the city, probably hiding out. He said that an investigation team has been constituted to deal with the case. The investigation team is led by Hatia Assistant Superintendent of Police A. Vijay Laxmi. However, the cricketer has applied for a prohibited bore (PB) arms licence owing to ongoing security concerns.
