There have been invitations from many states and in latest; Maharashtra state has invited Tata for the small car project. Earlier, the grave situation at Singur in aftereffect of continuous agitation by Trina Mool Congress and some left parties Tata has wished to get out of the site and start the project at some other place where it is already operating.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh inviting Tata said that the Tatas will be accorded red carpet welcome to set up the project in Maharashtra and will be given land and necessary facilities. However, Maharashtra is not the only state to invite Tata for the project; ruling and opposition parties in Orissa also invited Tata to shift their one lakh car project to their state.
These and similar measures to attract investments are new trends in state politics. However, there has not been any response from Tata side on the invitation by Maharashtra CM. Evidently, there is already a huge investment of Rs 1,500 crore at Singur by Tata, and any pullout will delay the production of the car and also a financial loss in addition.
