The Mumbai fans will not see the smiling and flamboyant cheerleaders performing in the IPL matches to be played in Navi Mumbai. It is to be noted that Mumbai will play five IPL matches at the D.Y. Patil stadium in Nerul and all those matches will feature no cheerleaders. The first of these five matches will be played between Mumbai Indians and Hyderabad Deccan Chargers on 27th April, 2008.

Many legislators of Maharashtra said that the performance of the cheerleaders are vulgar and obscene and they hurt the womanhood of a country where women are respected and worshipped. So this obscene and vulgar performance can't be allowed at any cost. Following their demands, the state home department of Maharashtra asked the Mumbai and Navi Mumbai police to take a decision before they give the cheerleaders the license to perform.

The Navi Mumbai Police on Thursday said that they have asked the authorities of D.Y. Patil Sports Academy not to allow cheerleaders to perform in the IPL matches. The cheerleaders have earlier said that during their performances they are passed lewd propositions and obscene gestures by the spectators. Meanwhile Shahrukh Khan, the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, has opposed the decision saying that there is nothing wrong with the cheerleaders and he doesn't find it vulgar and obscene.
