A team of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad is will interrogate Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik. He is to be questioned for his suspected role in the Malegaon blast of September 29, 2008. Some official sources in the ATS told the media.
Earlier on January 24, members of the Sri Ram Sene had attacked a pub in Mangalore and had assaulted the visitors particularly women. Mr. Muthalik is now being interrogated by the Mangalore police for his alleged role in inciting his supporters to attack the pub.
Inspector-General (Western Range) A.M. Prasad told the media on Thursday (29th January) that they have been contacted by the ATS to interrogate Muthalik in connection with the Malegaon case.
The name of Muthalik came during the interrogation of the Malegaon blast accused, Col. Shrikant Purohit. Purohit purportedly mentioned the name of Muthalik as being someone who was integral to the plot. Based on this information the ATS team traveled to Karnataka.
Besides Muthalik’s role in Malegoan blast the ATS is also investigating a link between Sri Ram Sene and Abhinav Bharat. The latter is the prime organisation that is believed to have carried out the Malegaon blast.
