The central government has appointed M.N. Prasad as the new secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

M.N. Prasad has been appointed as the new secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The 1972 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Bihar cadre replaced Pulok Chaterji as the secretary in PMO. Prior to his appointment in PMO, Prasad served as the secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The out going PMO secretary Pulok Chaterji will move to World Bank as Executive Director.
 
Under his new role, M.N. Prasad will provide secretarial assistance to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Apart from Prasad, the central government has appointed Feroza Mehrotra as Consultant in the Planning Commission. A 1974 batch IAS officer, Mehrotra has earlier served for over three years as Advisor in the Planning Commission.
 
Meanwhile report says that Vivek Mehrotra will be appointed as the secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, the post was earlier held by MN Prasad. In another development, Radha Vinod Raju, Special Director General of Police in Jammu and Kashmir has been appointed as the chief of newly established National Investigation Agency. The 59-year-old Raju will hold his new post till January 21, 2010.
