Why some smokers develop lung cancer and others do not depends on the genetic difference in people, reports a recent study conducted by scientists. Three distinct teams from France, Iceland and the United States have conducted the study. They have concluded saying it is the specific genome region containing the genes, which makes smokers more vulnerable to lung cancer.

In all three studies, nicotine turned out to be the biggest cause for this killer disease. This finding, it is expected, will give scientists better understanding of what causes lung cancer and equip them with enhanced ways to combat it. In present times, lung cancer happens to be the responsible for maximum cancer-related deaths across the globe.
