Larsen and Toubro and Jaiprakash Power has entered into a partnership, according to which L&T will be supplying and erecting boiler and steam turbine for the thermal power project which will be set up by  Jaiprakash Power in Madhya Pradesh.
 
This is a Rs.4000-crore agreement, according to which L&T-MHI Ltd, will be supplying a boiler to the thermal project that is being set up in Singrauli. The steam turbine required for the project will be supplied by L&T itself.
 
The Singrauli project consists of two 660-MW super-critical thermal power units.
 
The contract was won by L&T via international competitive bidding.
 
"This is a very prestigious project for the group, we will be investing Rs.8,000 crore for setting up the thermal power plant and we will be adding 2,000 MW power generation capacity during the current five-year plan period ending 2012," said Manoj Gaur, executive chairman of Jaiprakash Associates.
