Larsen and Toubro, the construction and engineering major, has grabbed an order of GMR Energy to develop a gas- based power plant in Andhra Pradesh, which is worth more than Rs.2,000 crore.

L&T will be designing and manufacturing the vital tools such as heat recovery steam generators, switchgear and cooling towers for the 2x384 MW gas-based power plant, which will be developed at Vemagiri, Andhra Pradesh.
The project is expected to be completed in the 11th Plan that ends in 2012.
L&T-Sargent and Lundy, the L7T arm, which is involved in the engineering and designing of the power plants, will execute the integration as well as detailed engineering aspects of the power plant development.
The construction, installation, commissioning and project management will be done by L&T.
Earlier, L&T had set up a similar plant of 388.5 MW for the GMR group at the same location that was commissioned in 2006.
