Bal Thackeray is likely to be summoned by Lok Sabha Privilege Committee for his disparaging comments on MPs who had raised in Parliament the issue of his tirades against Hindi-speaking people living in Maharashtra. And, as per the procedure of the committee now Thackeray will have to deposit his side of statement to it.
Earlier, 17 MPs had petitioned Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on the issue of their breach of privilege by Thackeray. The leading person behind the petition was RJD member D P Yadav who had submitted petition containing 16 signatures. Similarly, Ram Kripal Yadav too petitioned for breach of his privilege, and finally, the LS have taken cognizance, and will summon Mr Thackeray.
According to reports, privileges committee which is headed by Congress MP V Kishore Chandra Deo earlier had summoned Mr DP Yadav and enquired about his privilege notice. Interestingly, Mr Yadav has charged that his right vested on him under Article 105(2) of the Constitution has been violated by Thackeray in which he had given offensive remarks about the MPs from Bihar.
