The latest version of Lotus Domino will support the Apple iPhone users to automatically synchronize the mails, contacts and calendar data to the popular handset anywhere.

The new version, Domino 8.5.1 will work through the Lotus Notes Traveller software. It’s the first collaborative effort from both Apple and IBM to put so many features for the users. Apart from push e-mail, contacts and calendar, the users can also get the latest data automatically from their enterprise Notes system and can work over the phone while they are offline. The most striking feature is that, if the iPhone is lost or stolen then the Notes data can be wiped out remotely to maintain the data security for the user.

Domino 8.5.1 will also feature corporate directory look up to enable the users to go through the corporate directory.

According to IBM, the iPhone support will be available to most of the smartphones including Microsoft Windows Mobile, Research in Motion BlackBerry and Nokia Symbian platforms.

IBM is constantly adding new features to its products. Recently, it has added new features for the Symbian platforms such as locking the device, wiping data remotely, managing passwords and integrating with external calendars. However, Windows Mobiles already have all those features.

IBM is also developing a new designer application, Domino Designer to help the developers to build and extend Notes and Domino Applications.
