Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni with her marginal victory in intra-party election could become next prime minister of Israel. According to BBC, she may succeed Ehud Olmert as prime minister. The election held for the top post in Kadima Party shows that Tzipi Livni won 43.1%, and Shaul Mofaz won 42%, votes. On the other hand, third candidate Meir Sheetrit was at distance with 8.4% votes.

Howsoever marginal victory it may be for Ms Livni, it shows a certain change in Israel politics. Interestingly, she would not be the first women prime minister of Israel as way back in the 1970s Golda Meir had become Israel's first woman prime minister. Ms Livni has announced that she wanted to form a new cabinet in very short span of time to meet the challenge her country is facing.

Earlier, current Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who is facing grave charge of financial misappropriation, has said that he would get down from the post. Livni still has 42 days to form a new cabinet, but problems are not less. Leading coalition partner Shas party has said that she could be accepted as prime minister of the coalition but she has to accept the conditions laid by it. And, one major condition is, there cannot be any negotiation on the entitlement of Jerusalem.
