Singer Lily Allen is on cloud nine as her work has finally been recognised by the world. Allen has been roped in to write the scores for the new ‘Bridget Jones's Diary’ musical.

The ‘Smile’ hitmaker insisted that she is grateful to be ‘recognised as a songwriter’.

The 25-year old singer’s 10 songs have been picked for the production, based on the Renee Zellweger comedy.  Meanwhile, Allen is delighted that her musical creations are being recognised.

"Everyone thinks it's just one or two songs. But I've now had 10 accepted and they look to be making the final cut for the show," she said.

"I'm hugely proud of this and it's something I've worked really b**ody hard on. The money would be great but it's being recognised as a songwriter and lyricist that truly excite me," she added.

The stage show is scheduled to open next year.
