LG Electronics displayed its all new Symbian mobile handset named LG KT770 at the Mobile World Congress. The new handset from LG comes with a 5-megapixel camera with touchscreen facility. Apart from these, LG KT770 features S60 5th edition on Symbian OS 9.4 and incorporates host of other features including WiFi and HSDPA connectivity. Measuring only 111 x 51.5 x 15.8 mm in size the mobile phone comes with a slider form factor and a numeric keypad. This is LG's fourth S60 on Symbian device.
Sony Ericsson has also presented a Symbian device at the Mobile World Congress which is rather a concept. Samsung also announced plans to focus on multiple platforms. Apart from announcing its new Symbian mobile handset, LG has revealed the plan of shifting to Windows Mobile in the future. Considering its new plan, LG announced a strategic agreement with Microsoft to use its platform in future smartphones in the next few years.
LG claimed that over the next three to four years, the company will launch about 50 Windows Mobile devices. Both Microsoft and LG also planed to join hands on development and design of future handsets, as well as on applications and services. Earlier LG has launched host of Symbian-powered handsets like KS20 (JoY), KT610 and KT615.
