Lenovo on Tuesday announced the launch of new touchscreen laptops, including the ThinkPad T400s, which is their first laptop to support four-finger multitouch input.
The ThinkPad T400s, along with the multi touch feature, features MultiTap that can be used to turn off certain hardware functions. The T400s is aimed at the business class and will be marketed as a business model. Its outdoor display with low reflectivity and low glare is ideal for the business person on the move whose job requires him or her to spend time outside.
The laptop boasts a phenomenal battery life of up to 10 hours with standard usage. Currently, the SimpleTap touch interface will be unavailable until Windows 7 ships on October-end this year. It will be available on download after the launch of the OS. The SimpleTap feature lets users create gestures with up to four fingers on the advanced capacitive touch screen. It is believed that in the near future, with the perceived advances in touch screen computer technology, the mouse may be ruled out altogether.
Some of the tech specs of the ThinkPad T400s are:
- 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 CPU
- 14.1 inch capacitive touchscreen display
- 128GB RAM
- Intel 4500MHD integrated graphics
- Dual-layer DVD+/- drive
The ThinkPad T400s weighs barely above 2kg and is designed exclusively for use with Windows 7.
