Lata Mangeshkar will be the first one to receive the Swarbhaskar award by Pune Municipal Corporation which has been brought out in memory of legendary Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

 

She will receive the award from Kathak dancer Sitara Devi on Saturday. It has been announced by Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal and Aba Bagul, leader of the opposition in the House that the award will also include Rs 1,11,161 along with a citation.

 

A cultural function has been set up by the Pune Municipal Corporation which starts from Thursday. The programme would include classical concerts which will be presented by eminent performers. It has been announced that an art gallery in memory of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi will also be erected.

 

On the day of award presentation, Upendra Bhat and Arati Ankalikar Tikekar will be performing.
