The golden voice, Lata Mangeshkar was honoured with the ‘Pride of India- Kala Saraswathi’ award on Sunday in Hyderabad by the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, K Rosaiah.

Along with the prestigious award, she was conferred with cash prize of 15 lakh, an imitation of Charminar,’ Swarna Kankanam’ and a Veena.

The award ceremony was organized by Andhra Pradesh Kala Vedika which is a cultural organization in Andhra Pradesh.

After the award function Lata Mangeshwar stated, “I am thankful for the love and affection of Telugu people. I want to come back to Hyderabad and perform once.”

Lataji visited Tirumala on Saturday to take part in the TTD's Nada Neerajanam but unfortunately, she  experienced a bad time as her purse went missing on Sunday. The purse contained credit cards, flight tickets to Mumbai and also some cash.

TTD officials were so busy with the arrival of chief minister that they were apathetic to Lataji’s family members and secretary when asked for help regarding the missing purse. Finally, Lata Mangeshkar’s secretary and family had to contact Mr. I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, TTD executive officer who then arranged the flight tickets.
