Las Vegas Sands Corp is planning to open its venture in India; the project will be replica of Macau's strip casinos. Talking with media persons in Macau, Chairman of the firm Sheldon Adelson said that he would like to build a Cotai Strip in India. Evidently, the Cotai Strip is replica of the Las Vegas Strip, and is located on reclaimed land between Macau’s Coloane and Taipa Islands.
Sheldon Adelson further said that the company would be happy to spend $12 billion in India. Other than India, Las Vegas Sands is investing more than $15 billion in building casinos in Singapore and Macau. Market analysts opine that casino firms are trying to invest in the casino market in Asia, where economic growth is faster than in the US and Europe for better returns.
Las Vegas Strip boss recently visited to India too and talked with India's Tourism Minister Smt Ambika Soni. However, he did not tell anything about the meeting and subject matter of conversation between two. Currently, India has only one legalized casino in earlier colony of Portuguese Goa, located on the western Malabar Coast. Sheldon is waiting for India's invitation to open second one!
