India’s leading construction and engineering firm, Larsen and Toubro, has won an order from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co for the construction of three boiler turbine units, which is required for the proposed supercritical power plant of 1,980 MW. The deal is worth Rs. 6,897 crore.
About 50 million units of power is expected to be added to the national power supply from the power plant, which is being developed in Koradi. The technology work is estimated to cost around $8.5 billion, with L7T covering all the aspects from design and manufacturing till commissioning the boilers.
L&T had recently received an order to construct supercritical equipment for a 1,320 MW plant from Jaypee Industries.
