Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has announced on October 20, 2008 to expand its Mysore-based medical equipment business. The announcement was made by the president of operations and board member R.N. Mukhija. According to Mukhija, the main focus of the engineering and construction company is to provide better healthcare facility by producing quality products. The company pledges to work for the interest of the country. Mr Mukhija also informed about L&T's plan of setting another new manufacturing unit near the existing Mysore unit.
The engineering and construction major, L&T has its business spread over diverse sectors such as construction, hydraulic equipment, electrical and electronic power services, fertilizer projects, medical electronics, financial services and information technology. Although it is engaged in multi-business operation, the major share of its revenue about 85 per cent comes out from construction business. The company has been honored with the title of India's Best Managed Companies for the year 2008. L&T has also maintained its place in Forbes Global 2000 Ranking.
