Sri Lanka’s top cricketers will soon kick off a campaign in Mumbai to woo Indians to visit the island nation. Dileep Mudadeniya, managing director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTBP) revealed that former captain Arjuna Ranatunga, skipper Mahela Jayawardene, Arvinda de Silva, Kumar Sangakkar and Muttiah Muralitharan would be accompanying top tourism board officials to Mumbai for the tourism promotions.
Former skipper Arjuna Ranatunga was upbeat about his India visit. The Sri Lankan cricketer remarked that their current visit to India is to invite as much travelers and cricketing fans to come and visit and explore Sri Lanka through the platform of cricket. Mudadeniya revealed that the SLTBP will offer Indian tourists an ‘individual price based package’ that would include airfare (on Sri Lankan airlines), sight-seeing, accommodation and local transportation. In Mumbai, the Sri Lankan cricketers along with SLTBP officials will be holding a press conference and a meeting with key travel agents on Sunday, June 15, 2008, aiming to attract maximum possible Indian tourists to Sri Lanka during the Indian cricket team tour beginning in July.
