Italian luxury brand Tonino Lamborghini has entered Indian lifestyle market with the launch of multi-media accessories.
The company will be selling its signature "computer backpacks, i-phone, BlackBerry, notebook and camera cases at the mega lifestyle retail stores in the country," a senior company official, in charge of marketing and the distribution, said.
The accessories are mostly made of nylon and leather.
"We are targeting college students and young executives, who travel to short haul destinations with their laptops. The young corporate executives, who have more money to spend, are trendy and look for the latest multi-media accessory brands that are acknowledged globally," said Ajay Mehta, managing director of the MCC Group, the firm distributing Lamborghini accessories in the country.
"The sales of laptops and i-phones have shot through the roof and we feel this is the right time to tap the market."
Mehta has added that the items are available at an affordable cost. "The price brand is reasonable - from Rs.1,500 to Rs.7,000," Mehta said.
Customers can pick up their accessories from this brand from the Reliance, Shopper's Stop, eZone, Hotspot and Croma to retail its accessories.
"The luxury segment in India is growing. The downturn was just a blip on the radar. Much of the market is untapped and there is room for more foreign brands," he said.
Lamborghini came to life in 1946.
"The company began manufacturing exclusive sports cars, tractors, solar panels, wines, golf carts and engineering equipments for home. Its masterpiece, however, was the Miura sports car of the 60s and the 70s. The founder of the company was Ferruccio Lamborghini," Mehta said.
With Ferruccio's son, Tonino, taking over in 1981, the company “has diversified into the luxury accessories segment”, says Mehta.
