London-based NRI, Lakshmi Niwas Mittal has been listed as Britain's richest resident for the fourth consecutive year by a leading media house. As per The Sunday Times Rich List 2008 published on Sunday 27 April, the 57-year-old Lakshmi Niwas Mittal and his family's total wealth is worth an estimated 27,700 million pounds.

 

The steel baron has managed to hold the top notch position on the rich list after buying the world's leading steel company Arcelor the previous year. The collective business of Arcelor Mittal churns out 115 million tons of steel each year, which accounts for ten per cent of market. In the rich list, Lakshmi Niwas Mittal is followed by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich with 11,700-million-pound fortune and then the Duke of Westminster occupying the third rank with worth 7,000 million pounds.
