It is a usual trend of Lady Gaga to attract the media attention with her weird and strange dressing style but this time it seems the Lady has crossed her limits.  Gaga turned heads when she appeared on the stage to receive her Video of the Year award at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sunday. The meat dress of ‘Poker Face’ singer has sparked controversy with many animal right organisations coming forward to protest against the bizarre act of the singer.

Gaga while accepting her award from legendary singer Cher said, “I never thought I'd be asking Cher to hold my meat purse."

At the ceremony, Gaga walked the red carpet donning a beautiful dress from the late designer Alexander McQueen's final collection but soon raised eyebrows when she changed to Franc Fernandez odd attire. The beauty was wearing a rare meat outfit with boots, hat, and purse giving the appearance of pieces of raw meat. This is not the first time that Gaga has echoed controversy with her meat dress as recently she posed in a meat bikini for the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan.

However, the 24-year old has come forward to defence her act and says that she strongly opposes US military`s Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy which prohibits gays admitting their sexuality.

"It is a devastation to me that I know my fans who are gay ... feel like they have governmental oppression on them. That's actually why I wore the meat tonight."

Gaga added, “As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth. It has many interpretations, but for me this evening, it's 'If we don't stand up for what we believe in, we don't fight for our rights, pretty soon we're gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones.'"

Pointing to her Japanese Vogue cover, she added, "And I am not a piece of meat."

However, designer Franc Fernandez has not yet confirmed if the dress was really made up of real meat.

Meanwhile, PETA is not happy with the idea of the singer and quickly released a statement criticising Gaga’s outfit. "Meat is the decomposing flesh of a tormented animal who didn't want to die, and after a few hours under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh it is and likely be crawling in maggots -- not too attractive, really."

Well, it is for sure this Gaga episode is going to give lot of publicity to the singer but at the same time it binds her to answer every question raised with her outrageous MTV award dress.
