In a recent poll conducted by the Internet market research firm www.onepoll.com, this Australian pop diva as been voted as ‘Britain's Favourite Celebrity.’ This will sound even more remarkable when one takes into account that fact that Kylie Minogue has managed to beat a number of popular figures in this poll. For instance there is the legendary television presenter Terry Wogan whom the 40 year-old singer pushed to the second slot. Bruce Forsyth, 80, the host of Strictly Come Dancing has emerged third, whereas Michael Parkinson, 73, the retired chat show host has come fourth in the poll.

The last name in the category of top five popular celebrities is that of Vicar of Dibley star Dawn French, 50. Kylie Minogue who was diagnosed with breast cancer has been praised for the way she battled with this life-threatening disease and emerged victorious. 

After this, she was also presented with the prestigious award, Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Prince Charles at the Buckingham Palace for her contribution to music. Kylie Minogue rose to prominence in the late 1980s through her role in the Australian television soap opera Neighbors, before commencing her career as a pop artist in 1987.
