Australian pop diva, song writer and actress, Kylie Minogue was honored with the prestigious Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her contribution to the field of music on Thursday, July 2. A jubilant Minogue graciously accepted the OBE from Prince Charles, who was substituting for Queen Elizabeth at the Buckingham Palace. ‘It is an incredible honor for me to receive this award. It makes me feel both humble and proud to be recognized for doing a job that I love so much,’ announced the Australian singer.

It was during the 1980s when Kylie Minogue shot to fame by starring as Charlene in Neighbours, an Australian television series. She took up music after leaving television and went on to release her very first single album Locomotion in 1987. Thereafter a series of hits followed such as Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Spinning Around. Minogue was found to be suffering from breast cancer in 2005, but timely diagnosis coupled with surgery and chemotherapy helped her overcome it. Kylie Minogue has also authored a kid’s book, launched a perfume as well as introduced her own lingerie line.
