The Ponmudi hill resort, which is being flaunted as a premium tourist gateway by the Kerala Tourism Development Corp, KTDC, is all set to be opened on Oct 1.
Located at about 1,100 metres from the sea level, Ponmudi, which means a golden peak, is about 61 kilometres from the capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. Ponmudi is a part of the beautiful mountain ranges of the Western Ghats, which runs parallel to the Arabian Sea.
K.G. Mohanlal, the managing director of KTDC, mentioned that about Rs. 1 crore has been spent for the revamping of the Ponmudi resort.
"We have nine cottages with 14 rooms, with the tariff ranging from Rs.2,000-4,000 a night. In six months we will have another 14 cottages," Mohnalal told.
"We have also built a conference facility that can seat 100 people as well as a full-fledged restaurant”, added the KTDC managing director.
