The 20-year-old women international master, Kruttika Nadig won the 35th Parsvnath National Women chess title after drawing the 11th and final round against Eesha Karavade. The Maharashtra-based chess player, Kruttika received Rs one lakh as prize money. Playing very cautiously in the final round, Kruttika agreed to a draw in 20 moves that was enough to clinch the title of national champion with eight points.
Defending champion and international master Tania Sachdev managed to bag the second spot in the tournament after accepting defeat against Asian Junior Champion Mary Ann Gomes of West Bengal in the crucial final round. Tania's dream of winning the National title for the third consecutive time was shattered by Mary who took full advantage of latter's mistake.
Women grand master Nisha Mohota defeated Soumya Swaminathan in 68 moves and finished third. Swathi and Eesha finished fourth and fifth respectively. Swathi overcame Pon N Krithika of Tamil Nadu in 53 moves to bag the fourth place. Tania received Rs 60,000 while Swathi and Eesha got 40,000 each as prize money.
