Sweeping aside all controversies for the moment, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Shoaib Akhtar made an astounding Indian Premier League (IPL) debut against the Delhi Daredevils held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, May 13. Shoaib Akhtar brought the entire Eden gardens at its feet by claiming the top four Delhi batsmen in a span of just three overs. It was a crucial match for both the teams but the Knight Riders had the final say and won the match by 23 runs.

With a modest total on the board, it was never going to be easy for the Knight Riders but the early burst by Shoaib Akhtar broke the backbone of the Delhi side and they never recovered from that shock. The Rawalpindi Express took four wickets in just three overs. Shoaib Akhtar was given a green signal for the Eden Gardens IPL match just a few hours back, but he succeeded in delivering up to his fans’ expectations. Shoaib's  victims included the much intimidating Delhi opening combo of skipper Virender Sehwag (0) and Gautam Gambhir (10).
