Kolkata Knight Riders beat Deccan Chargers by 23 runs on Sunday, May 11, to stay in contention for the top 4 berths in IPL. Deccan Chargers, on the other hand, slumped to their seventh successive defeat, going down to Kolkata Knight Riders despite Venugopal Rao's valiant 42-ball 71 in their Indian Premier League match on Sunday.
The Knight Riders opted to bat first and rode high on Captain Sourav Ganguly's stroke-filled 91 and David Hussey's late assault to build up 204 for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Decca Chargers allowed the Knight Riders to cross the 200 mark, with their pathetic bowling and aweful fielding.
In reply, the Deccan Chargers, led by Rao's blitzkrieg, which included four boundaries and a half a dozen sixes, could manage only 181 for seven. The Chargers lost wickets at regular intervals and at no point in thge match they looked like threatening the Kolkatans. Kolkata Knight Riders Captain, Sourav Ganguly was declared the Man of the Match.
