The Kodak Company on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, launched an ultra-thin wireless digital photo frame. The company states that their new product sports an organic light emitting diode (OLED) screen, which in comparison to the common liquid crystal displays (LCD) has greater color depth and saturation.

Kodak will put its new OLED wireless digital photo frame on exhibit at Photokina trade show in Germany the coming week. This Kodak digital photo frame features a 7.6-inch screen and in-built Wi-Fi support. Kodak pointed out that their new product not only displays pictures, but also video and can be used for playing music through a computer.

At the same time the OLED wireless digital photo frame can be linked to photo and video-sharing websites, portals for news, weather, sports and so on. Kodak has said that the OLEDs emanate light of varied colors and that this technology is such that it does not require a backlight like in most LCDs.  It also consumes  less power and is thinner than LCDs.
