The IIFA controversy between Southern Industry Vs Bollywood has started showing its after effects with ‘Kites’ being shut down in six theatres across Chennai.

The South Indian Film Chamber had sent a very clear message about their sentiments being hurt over the awards being held in Colombo in Sri Lanka. Actor Kamal Haasan had even requested a change of venue which the IIFA authorities refused. The SIFCC had than warned all Bollywood stars that they would be boycotted if they attended the function.

Despite the warning, Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Dia Mirza and some others went ahead and attended the function.

Irked by the Bollywood stars including Hrithik Roshan, who attended the event, a fairly new political party, Naaam Thamizhar Party, has shut down the screening of Kites across six theatres in Chennai.

District President of Naaam Thamizhar Party, Adhiyamaan said, “Sri Lanka is trying to cover up their genocide of Tamils. These actors don't understand our feeling.”

The SIFCC is to have a meeting today to take a final decision on the issue.
