Kiran Rao was on the lookout for a fresh face for Dhobi Ghat to act opposite Aamir Khan and accidentally came across Kriti Malhotra’s profile in Facebook and picked her for the role.

 

Kiran needed a face which was never seen before in the silver screen and so, after looking many photographs, she discovered the Yasmin of Dhobi Ghat in Facebook.

 

Kriti who is excited about her role said, "I have been working with Aamir in the costume department for a few years. Acting was something I never thought about, as I have always been camera shy. A friend involved with the film told me that Kiran had seen my photographs on Facebook and wanted me to audition, which made me nervous since I have no acting experience."

 

She added, "On meeting Kiran, she told me that she had come across my profile, which happened to be the face she was looking for while looking through a commonfriend's list."

 

The debutante said that her role opposite Aamir Khan was a tough challenge for her.
