Kings XI Punjab defeated Delhi Daredevils by 6 runs on the D/L method at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi to register their seventh win in the IPL. Chasing a revised target of 123 in 11 overs, Punjab were 94 for three in eight overs when the heavens opened up and play was suspended. Punjab was 6 runs ahead of the hosts via Duckworth-Lewis system.

Earlier the hosts were given a solid start by openers Virender Shewag(51 runs, 2X4, 5X6) and Gautam Gambhir (40 runs, 7X4) who put on 75 runs for the first wicket. Shewag looked in tremendous touch hitting the Punjab bowlers all round the park. His swashbuckling knock of 51 runs came in just 26 balls. Gambhir too looked impressive and supported his captain well at the other end. For Punjab, Powar and Hopes picked up 2 wickets each.

The visitors were in a spot of bother at one stage losing 3 wickets for just 31 runs. But useful knocks by Jayawardena (36*runs of 17 balls) and Pomersbach (25*runs off 12 balls) gave stability to the Punjab innings. The duo shared a vital partnership of 63 runs for the fourth wicket and brought up the 50 partnership in just 18 balls. Rajat Bhatia was the given the 8th over in which he conceded just 2 runs off his first five deliveries but was hit for a six off the last ball. The rain came down once again with Punjab ahead by 6 runs under the Duckworth Lewis method.
