The US President, George W Bush has taken up Mideast diplomacy for two days, recently welcoming the King of Jordan, King Abdullah II, to the White House for a short breakfast meeting. It is learnt that King Abdullah II came and departed within an hour’s time on Wednesday 23 April.  The Jordanian Embassy informed that King Abdullah had come to Washington at President Bush's invitation for discussing negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, the latest developments in the Mideast and ties of the United States with Jordan.

On Thursday 24 April, the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas was scheduled to meet US President Bush. All these meetings at the White House are, infact, a prelude to a trip to the Mideast by President Bush next month to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel. The administration hopes to convene a peace summit during the visit, perhaps at Sharm el-Sheik in Egypt.
