In a recent study it is seen that, kids of working mums lead unhealthier lifestyles than those whose mothers are not working anywhere.

UK Millennium Cohort Study revealed this truth, which was carried out among 12,500 five-year-old children.

The study also says that, such children are more sedentary and are more likely to be driven to school.

The researchers asked the mothers about their lifestyles, diet and activities. They were also questioned about the way they look after their children and the time they provide for their kids’ education etc.

The findings revealed that children who had working mums, they were prone to consume more sugary drinks between meals than kids whose mothers had never worked.

These children were also getting less time to watch TV or using computer and were using vehicles more than walking or cycling.

It was also observed that, the children of the full time working mothers had to take less food or fruits and vegetables during their meals.

"Our results do not imply that mothers should not work," wrote the study authors. "Rather, they highlight the need for policies and programmes to help support parents to create a healthy environment for their children."

These findings were available in the current issue of the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
