The militants who have kidnapped Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Tariq Azizuddin have demanded the release of an important Taliban leader along with few other Pakistani and Afghan colleagues. Even the Al Arabiya television showed a videotape, in which ambassador Tariq Azizuddin conveyed the main demands of the terrorists. The militants have kept Mr Azizuddin, his driver and bodyguard in confinement since 11 February.

A source informs that the militants are now demanding Mullah Obaidullah, a Taliban leader and five or six other Pakistanis and Afghans held by Pakistani authorities released. It was on 1 March previous year that Pakistani security forces in Quetta nabbed terrorist Mullah Obaidullah Akhund, deputy to the elusive Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar. The source informs that the Pakistani ambassador has spoken to his family twice prior the release of his old video. It also stated that authorities are aware who his captors are, but are keeping mum to ensure that he remains safe.
