Vayalar Rama Varma Memorial Trust of Kerala has chosen Lok Sabha MP from Kerala Veerendrakumar for this year's Vayalar Rama Varma Award for Malayalam literature. The MP will be honored with the coveted literary award for his travelogue   'Haimavathabhuvil'. Mr Veerendrakumar will receive Rs 25,000 as prize money at an award function scheduled to be held on October 27, 2008. The travelogue by writer-politician, deals about his journey to the Himalayas. According to one of the trustees, the MP deserves this literary award.  
 
The 72-year-old MP also offers his service as the chairman and managing director of leading Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi. He is also the President of Kerala Janata Dal-Secular. He has also served the state as the minister for finance and labor, Kerala. The veteran politician expressed his happiness for being nominated for this year's literary award. The award will motivate him to come out with more literary geniuses. Vayalar Rama Varma Award instituted in the memory of poet-lyricist Vayalar Rama Varma is the popular literary award in the state of Kerala.
