Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif are the new brand ambassadors of the 34th National Games 2009. The games will start from November 21 in Jharkhand.
R.K. Aanand, President of Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) said, “They will be present at the inaugural as well as closing ceremony of the National Games."
"They will also endorse the promotion of the National Games," he added.
When asked to R.K. Aanand the reason that Indian cricket Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has not been chosen as brand ambassador for the Games, he said, "Dhoni is from Jharkhand and we will invite him for the inaugural and closing ceremony."
According to sources, posters and cut-outs of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif will be used to promote the National Games. The National Games Organising Committee (NGOC) sources revealed that Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif have been paid Rs.4 crore.
The 34th National Games which were slated to take place in Jharkhand in 2007 had faced continues postponing because of lack of proper infrastructure.
