For women’s morale boost this time, Oscar has given a different uplift to it. Declaring ‘The Hurt Locker’ as the best film of the year outstanding it from ‘Avatar’ and the best director recognition to Kathryn Bigelow for it has given women’s image a different perception.

Showcasing that women has immense power to take over the challenges of men and ability to distinguish themeselves in the tough race. After Bigelow became the first female director to win the coveted prize in Oscar history though four women had been nominated earlier but never had won it.

Women now make up more than half the workforce in the US according to Jehmu Greene the president of New York's Women's Media Centre (WMC), who boosts women’s representation in film category in US.

Putting a light to women’s power in Hollywood Greene added, "Women now make up more than half the workforce in the US and yet are still left out of writing, directing and producing top films. An industry set in its ways - a boys' club with a focus on producing movies for a 14 to 25-year-old male audience.”

Bigelow's win will definitely help encourage female talents to come forward to pursue their career in film direction according to Amy Mole, managing director of the UK's Bird's Eye View Film Festival. Mole proudly stated, "Encourage the industry to catch up. Bigelow's win feels like a momentous occasion - by putting the spotlight on fab directors like her and making her a role model, I hope women and girls can see the role of a film director as something more attainable."

Women are not enough financed to come up creativity in filmmaking, Kate Kinninmont, chief executive of British organization Women in Film and TV (WFTV) stated, "Lots of women are making short films - but the move to making a feature is where women don't seem to be able to get the finance. Are people prepared to invest in a woman? The equality bill has been around for yonks but it's the same kind of thing if you look at the cabinet or High Court judges - there are hardly any women."

WFTV is trying to change this perspective by enabling women to take charge into direction of TV, movies and shorts. According to her Bigelow's distinction in direction will attracting more film financier towards women in greater number.

On this Kate chief WFTV stated, "Another part of it is women often lack the confidence to be really bullish and get out there. Bigelow has done something that would have been seen as a traditionally male film, people have taken a risk on her. This shows the financiers that women can make great films."

This win of Bigelow has made greater impact to reshape women's model in film making.
