President Pratibha Patil has asked Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj to assume the charges of Andhra Pradesh governor also. This decision has been adopted by the Indian President due to the absence of the governor of Andhra Pradesh, N.D. Tiwari.
"The President of India has been pleased to appoint H.R. Bhardwaj to discharge the functions of the governor of Andhra Pradesh, in addition to his own duties, during the absence of N.D. Tiwari, who is governor of the state," a statement from the President's Office said.
However, the statement did not elaborate on Tiwari's absence from office or the duration he would be away.
