After the trust vote episode recently, there was a unity among opposition parties, particularly among left and other regional parties, including BSP. The BSP leader Mayawati came as a good organizer, and rumors started in power corridor that she might be a PM candidate for third front. But, CPM General Secretary has said that she is not their PM candidate.
Talking with media, Prakash Karat said that the current relationship with BSP is just an electoral adjustment and BSP head is not their PM candidate. Third front has been in search of some charismatic leader for quite some time. And, Mayawati may become their leader for she has a huge support among down trodden and Dalits, which are also the vote bank for Left parties.
CPM General Secretary denied the fact that there is any third front as such with BSP; however, he said that the third front would come into existence and would be based on common minimum program (CMP). Talking about post-poll alliance with UPA, Prakash candidly said that Post-poll 2009, there will be no tie-up with the UPA, come what may!
