Karan: ‘We Are Poor In Writing Department’
Karan Johar has directed, written and produced many films, but his experience says that our film industry needs budding and talented writers. He thinks that there is a serious lack of innovative people in the industry.
Karan adds, “We are poor in the writing department because we don't empower our writers. Most first-time directors are trying to write on their own, and they’re doing it as a final resort. But they’re not comfortable with it and yet, they’re not complaining.”
Even King Khan shares a similar opinion and he says that Indian movies can’t reach the standards sometimes due to their hackneyed screenplays.
Karan also agrees to him and says that the industry should give space to the new writers and empower them so that they can be motivated to churn out new ideas and stories.
He adds further, “We need skilled craftsmen to generate ideas and write stories, and also to make adaptations work. Until then, directors will be forced to write their own movies. I think I’ve now broke out of the mould I created for myself, and am looking to make all kinds of movies and with all kinds of writers. However, what is necessary is that the screenplay should appeal to my instinct”
Meanwhile, Karan has set his eyes on his tomorrow releasing movie ‘We Are Family’ which stars Kareena, Kajol and Arjun.
