‘Kabootar’ a film by Maqbool Khan is expected to be full of violence. Director himself divulging the fact said that violence was the need of subject and Censor Board has to understand that. Talking to media persons he said that the film is based on his life story, whereas his friends have died only Maqbool is survived to tell the tale and if Censor Board chopped the story it would not do justice with the telling of the story.
The film is slotted for the show on 17th July at Osian’s-Cinefan Film Festival. Talking about the movie, director Maqbool Khan, who once assisted Anubhav Sinha, said that movie is violent and intense and very brutal but that's what the theme demanded. Sinha, the mentor hopes that the film will fetch enough accolades to avoid the censor board's scissors.
The film is somewhere influenced with famous movie of Fernando Meirelle’s 'City Of God' where director dealt with lost wayward kids. Anubhav Sinha said that movie undoubtedly is a blood-splattered but it's hugely emotional and intense. Set in Dholpur in Rajasthan, the film is an excellent portrayal of the criminalization of teenagers in north India, how they become criminal and what their modus-operandi is.
