The former Asian Tour number one, Jyoti Randhawa, made one of his best starts opening with 70 in the first round of the Omega European Masters. He had a mixed day with five birdies against four bogeys at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in the Swiss Alps on Thursday.
The Indian youngster Gaganjeet Bhullar, who broke through on the Asian Tour with a win in Indonesia in July, shot a 73.
The other Indians who are contesting in the tournament include Jeev Milkha Singh, Shiv Kapur, Gaurav Ghei and S.S.P. Chowrasia.
Randhawa said, “It was exciting. I made some bogeys but made a lot of birdies but this being the first round, I'll take it. I putted decent which is something I haven't been doing too well of late. If the shot-making comes around, hopefully I can do better."
"There has been a lack of concentration in the past few months on my part and today I concentrated a lot better. That was lacking previously and I committed to my shots and executed them well today. All in all, it was a good focussed round.”
Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez, Argentinean Andres Romero and Sweden's Christian Nilsson hold the early clubhouse lead with 65s.
