Versatile actress Julianne Moore lost her trust in the institution of marriage after her nine-year union ended with actor John Gould Rubin.
But, on the advice of her therapist the actress walked down the aisle for the second time with director Bart Freundlich for the better upbringing of her kids.
Julianne Moore shares 12-year-old son Caleb and seven-year-old daughter Liv with the filmmaker.
The actress quoted, "For me the only reason to get married was my children. I had a therapist who said marriage is really a container for a family."
The star has revealed that she is happy with her second marriage and insisted that it works as the grounding force in the middle of her hectic Hollywood lifestyle.
The 49-years old actress explained, "Freud says you need love and work, and a family and a job give you a balance... One element can't give you everything. You can have friends in movies and plays you make, but they're not your family. And you can't expect family to give you the stimulation work is going to provide, because that is not their responsibility."
