The “Public Enemies” which has Johnny Depp is based on the life and crime spree of 1930's bank robber John Dillinger.
Johnny Depp was the perfect choice to portray John Dillinger. He has brilliantly depicted the confident and daring nature of his character.
Also well cast was Christian Bale who used his creative talent to effectively portray Melvin Purvis, the man hired to bring Dillinger down. Also well rounding out the cast was Marion Cotillard as Billie Frechette, Billy Crudup as J. Edgar Hoover and Stephen Graham as Baby Face Nelson.
This movie has a lot of good character sequences and gun battles however the film could have benefited more from additional scenes depicting the public view and opinion of John Dillinger and more moments between Depp and Bale. There are also quite a few historical inaccuracies however the film is a good character study and quite entertaining.
