The announcement by US Presidential candidate, John McCain recently that he suggested his wife Cindy to participate in a beauty pageant being held at Sturgis threw the media and the public in general into a flurry. The reason is that the contest he suggested his wife to participate in during a rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, is actually a topless beauty pageant.

It is not known whether John McCain was aware of this fact or not while making this piece of information public. However, commenting on this, ESPN.com stated that this beauty pageant not only includes topless women, but on occasion bottomless ones too. ‘I was looking at the Sturgis schedule, and noticed that you had a beauty pageant, so I encouraged Cindy to compete,’ McCain had remarked during the Sturgis rally.

He, thereafter, informed the public that he had opined to his wife that with a little luck, she could be the only woman to serve as both the First Lady and Miss Buffalo Chip. Jim Caple, an ESPN.com columnist, had written that there had been a scene at the pageant, which resulted in a woman ‘dancing naked on a bar top.’ The announcement of McCain was met with cheers and applause from the hearers.
