The YouTube has been asked by a US senator to remove from its forum all videos posted by Islamic terrorists. Senator Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. has communicated this request in writing to the Google chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt. Commenting on the videos uploaded on the YouTube, the senator remarked that ‘a great majority of these videos document horrific attacks on American soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan.’

Other videos Senator Lieberman pointed out feature weapons training, verbal communications from the al-Qaeda leaders and other information created with an objective to radicalize potential recruits. The US senator has therefore suggested to Google that they introduce their own sets of rules and regulations that debar graphic violence and videos showing somebody getting injured, assaulted or humiliated.

As per YouTube, people upload thousands of videos on its forum each day, due to which its site majorly depends on users to introduce their community standards. YouTube further highlights that because of the gigantic content that gets uploaded everyday, it is not really possible to filer them. Terrorism analyst Ben Venzke feels that removing terrorist videos from YouTube would have little effect. He says that the Internet is such a forum that you scrap one video off YouTube and it will pop up on 10 different places online.
